The parties met on August 17th and resolved a number of important but minor outstanding issues in Outside Employment and Intellectual Property Rights.  We also discussed indemnification and made some progress in this area.  In the afternoon, the parties discussed retirement issues.  While the exchange was fruitful, no major breakthroughs were made. In the last several weeks considerable
progress was made and both sides agree that the hardest negotiating is ahead of us.  There will be a meeting for all AAUP members on September 2nd directly following the President's convocation.  It is essential that all members attend.
