The parties met on August 10th and in the morning
discussed past practice and outside employment. Considerable progress
was made in both of these areas. In addition, we discussed the University's
indemnification policy for faculty as well as the AAUP's new proposal in
this area. We will be sending the University's insurance policy and
proposal to an outside consultant and we will be discussing this issue
further next week. In the afternoon, the parties discussed layoff
and
while there was no movement on either side, there was useful discussion
on the issues separating the parties.
